Bulletproof Receptionist is an AI receptionist. This page explains, in plain language, how it works for callers and for the businesses that use it.
How callers are told they’re speaking with AI
By default, the receptionist tells every caller at the start of the call that it is an AI receptionist. If a business’s own greeting already says so, it doesn’t repeat it.
A business can switch this off in its settings. Where the law requires callers to be told, the business must keep it on, and our Acceptable use policy never allows a business to tell callers they are speaking with a person.
What the AI receptionist does
- Answers questions using the information the business has given it
- Takes messages with the caller’s name, number, email and reason, and emails them to the business
- Flags calls that match the business’s urgent words and emails them right away
- Books, changes and cancels appointments, and emails an invite
It is not a person and not an emergency service. If you have an emergency, hang up and call 911 or your local emergency number.
What it records
For each call, it keeps a written transcript of the conversation and the details the caller gives, such as name, phone number, email address, the reason for calling and any appointment booked. The transcript is deleted 7 days after the call ends. No audio recording of the call is kept, by us or by our providers.
How call information is used
The business you called receives the information by email and in its own private workspace. It is the business’s information, and we process it on the business’s behalf to provide the service. We do not sell it or use it for advertising, and call data is never used to train AI models. The speech and AI providers that run the call keep no copy of it afterwards.
Read our Privacy policy for the full details, including how long information is kept and your rights under the GDPR.
Mistakes and corrections
AI can make mistakes. It may mishear a name or number, misunderstand a question or give an answer that isn’t quite right. The business checks messages and bookings and follows up with callers.
If you’re a caller and something was recorded wrongly, contact the business you called and they can correct it. You can also ask them to delete your information. If you can’t reach them, email us and we will help.
